A Better Future
PartySamuel is responsible for one of the producer groups that Jolica partners with in India. He provides a variety of supports to the artisans he works with – he helps them finesse their designs so that they will sell, he provides financing as he has the banking relationships, he connects their products to the various international markets because he speaks English, has internet connections, and can ship products around the world.

He is also a great example of how fair trade provides a greater benefit to artisans. In addition to the various “business” supports he provides to artisans, Samuel also has started a school in Moradabad, India for the children of the artisans. Every afternoon about 25 children, ages 2-11 gather in the home of one of the artisans to be instructed by the three women teachers. As they learn to read and write, add and subtract, they are improving their odds of a better future.
